Red state blues

Yesterday I lived in a blue state. This morning, Pennsylvania feels more like a red state.

Our Democratic Governor Ed Rendell will be replaced in January by Republican Tom Corbett.

And ultra-conservative Republican Pat Toomey narrowly beat Democrat Joe Sestak for the U.S. Senate seat.

At a national level, the Democrats will retain a (smaller) majority in the U.S. Senate, but control of the House will go to the GOP. John Boehner is expected to be the next Speaker of the House.

And the gridlock in Congress will continue and perhaps get worse.

What were voters thinking? Didn't they get enough of those Republican "values" during the eight years of the Bush-Cheney administration?

As disappointed as many of us have been with the lack of sufficient progress during President Obama's first two years in office, I think soon we'll be looking back at them as the good old days.

  1. Americans have very short attention spans and shorter memories. I just hope the Dems don't interpret these results as a reason to move to the right. They lost because not enough Dems got out and voted.

  2. Pres. Obama and the Dem. House were elected in a mandate for Change w/specific issues such as Healthcare,Repeal of Tax cuts and de-reg. of Big Corps.,Banks,Ins./Pharma. and an end to Bush's Folly in Iraq.
As the duly elected Admin. begag to address these issues amidst a Republican Policy caused Recession, the GOP Refused to participate. Moreover, they obstructed every attempt to provide the change the voters had clearly desired. Then, with obscene amts. of $$$ from those same Big Corps.,(Banking, Ins, Oil/Gas etc), The GOP inundated the public with false accusations of the "Failed policies" of the Democrats. Polocies that the GOP Blocked at every turn! I am just appalled that the majority of voters were gullible enough to eventually Believe the propaganda! Now I wish to go on record and say.."You will live to regret this." All the well meaning ,yet easily duped TEA Partiers and uninformed optimists will be the first to moan when they see what will follow. Our way of life is certainly going to change! Abolition of Min. Wage, De-reg of Industry, Privatization of Healthcare and Social Security are all goals of the Power Blocks who Bought this election!

Republicans win but continue their campaign to destroy the other side in order to implement their ideas.

Democrats win and instead of implementing their ideas their first instinct is to compromise to prove that they are really good people.

For many Democrats winning isn't good enough. They want to be liked. They are in the wrong line of work.
